Comment: Itzy has finally transformed themselves into a serious group with this track; you may say that Itzy was already serious, but this track has shown their audience something new that they haven't explored as a group. In the past, I've been somewhat anticipating this moment where their songs/concepts would take a sharp 180 degree turn, which is the opposite direction of where they're going with their music. All their past content were unserious and the sound was a bit immature, which is what allured fans in the first place. Although I loved their past songs for their fast paced, bubbly, aggressive nature, I've grown to accept Itzy's new concept/content for their mature, sophisticated, and introspective vibes. The evolution of Itzy might sway their original fanbase away because they are expecting the same old dance music. "Imaginary Friend" was a banger in my opinion and may serve as Itzy's first stepping stone to a new mature concept!
Comment: Mystic Story's Billlie just finished an outdoor live vocal performance/busking with a live audience. As always, they were amazing! You will never be disappointed by Billlie! If you don't "Belllie've" me, then "Belllie've" Billlie! The Live Band played their instruments flawlessly as well. The discography of their new album "Appendix: Of All We Have Lost" is enjoyable; each track is down-to-earth and gives good/positive vibes! I would go as far as calling this korean album of the year.
Comment: I love ÆSPA so much! Perfect All Kill! ÆSPA totally killed it with that "neck-strain dance" or "hurt neck dance", where the members are holding their neck, pretending to have whiplash. Creative! Karina killed it. Giselle killed it. Winter killed it. Ningning killed it.
Comment: ILLIT's comeback is quite the catchy tune. Although they are still heavily criticized by K-netizens and Global Netizens for their live performances, they've managed to create another bop. Congratulations to these girls! By the way, the chorus might have been inspired by a famous cartoon. Here's a clip from that cartoon: I Choo Choo Choose you
Comment: In my opinion, this is a strong contender for the "best sing along song", "duo of the year", or even "song of the year", not just in K-pop, but in the global charts! This song doesn't take itself seriously; its main purpose is to cheer up or energize the audience with a little fun bop! Bop! Bop! Bop! By the way, I consider this as K-pop because of the chorus. The word "apartment" or the abbreviation "apt" is pronounced with a korean tongue. Instead of saying the word "apartment" out-right, in the song, it is pronounced natively korean as "a-pa-teu". In my opinion, this is a brilliantly layed out catchy chorus. Although the song is mostly sung in english, it is partially in the k-pop category because of the "ah-pa-teu" chorus, which is referring to a korean drinking game. ROSÉ and Bruno Mars definately have great chemistry performing together; their vocals mesh/blend together perfectly. Observing the environment, graphical effects, and visual theme of the music video, I got this Avril Ramona Lavigne and a portion of "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" vibe from it. The music video itself has a 80's cartoonish theme; you may find the theme similar to cartoons such as "Teen Titans" or "Phineas and Ferb". There was a post stating that the producers of "APT" sampled parts from an older song: TONI BASIL - Mickey. Lyrically, it is somewhat identical to Gwen Stefani's work when she was in "No Doubt". The best way to describe their collaboration is like putting salt and pepper on your favorite dish, which only intensifies the taste. Both ROSÉ and Bruno Mars should do a whole rock album together; it would be a guaranteed hit, selling like hot cakes world-wide! Punk Rock or Pop Rock totally suits ROSÉ's and Bruno's style. I would love more of them in a collaboration in the future. Bruno is like peanut butter and ROSÉ is like strawberry jam in a sandwich; they totally rock together. Energetically, they symbiotically feed on each other's energy and build each other's power to extreme levels, which creates an aura. This created aura emits a bountiful amount of energy, which could empower the depressed and strengthen the hearts of fans and newcomers. They are the dynamic duo that the world did not expect, but needed!
By the way, I just wanted to mention that ROSÉ looks alot happier after doing her collaboration with Bruno Mars. In her BlackPink days, ROSÉ always had this serious demeanor. Did Bruno Mars metaphorically "crack the shell" to release the true inner ROSÉ? It certainly looks like it! ROSÉ looks brighter than ever, almost like she is glowing!
Comment: I really love, from the bottom of my heart, One Pact's concepts with quotes/messages at the beginning of their music videos. It makes you think deeply about existence. Like other One Pact music videos, the dark atmosphere surrounds One Pact, but they shine bright together. One Pact songs always deserve to be on my playlist.
Comment: WOW! I never expected a return of 2NE1(A Legendary K-pop Group) in 2024! YG Entertainment is not playing around at all! YG Entertainment is definately brewing something for 2025!
CL is strong in every category: strong voice, strong vocals, strong rapping, strong stage presence, strong aura, etc. Basically, she's strong in every action that she initiates!
Park Bom still has strong vocals! She had alot of health issues throughout her career. I hope she is better now.
Although Sandara Park had a faint voice in certain parts of the concert, she had stunning visuals(arguably, the most stunning visuals in k-pop), stage presence, and dancing! I don't believe DARA is 39 years old; she definately looks the same as when she first debuted. Rumors say that she has a secret diet consisting of ancient korean and filipino food, which keeps her young forever. Another rumor is that she is genetically a vampire. This rumor was started by many South East Asian Blackjacks, especially in the Philippines.
Minzy, the maknae of the group, still has outstanding dancing. Her vocals throughout her career is as strong as CL; CL definately played a role or transfered her tremendous energy to Minzy. It shows alot! You can say that she is CL version 2.0.
By the way, BabyMonster had a special appearance in 2NE1's concert. It's a fully packed performance, delivering what the fan's request! This is why YG Entertainment in 2024 is reigning supreme in K-pop! BlackJacks must be immensely over-joyed!
Comment: Although this song was released a month ago, I seem to revisit it from time to time. It's an eerily nostalgic sound that I've heard before, but forgotten along the way. Fifty Fifty has the potential to create an "ear-worm" or "ear-gasm" type of music. I hope their company Attrakt isn't focused on "crushing" Ablume(former Fifty Fifty members). Instead, ATTRAKT can just focus on capitalizing their new talents and come up with a crazy viral song since each member of Fifty Fifty has the expertise to do so.
Comment: In the past, Purple Kiss was labeled from critics as "Dreamcatcher Wannabes". Purple Kiss is riding the horror trend and still are. I'm on the fence when it comes to Purple Kiss, but they are still going strong since 2021.
Comment: tripleS' sub-unit Visionary Vision(12 out of 24 members) released their sub-unit debut music video: Hit The Floor. I must say that this is the most aggressive track that I've heard for the whole year from a female k-idol group. By the way, I have this on repeat on my k-pop playlist for my morning exercises. Although the sound is a bit generic, songs like this are good to listen to while doing some kind of physical exercises.
Comment: It's unreal that G-Dragon is back in the k-pop industry. Alot of old faces are returning for some mysterious reason. Anyways, I'm glad he's back, but he has to consider that the k-pop scene has changed; there's new k-idols on the block, new companies, new rules, and a new audience(the next generation). Is G-Dragon relevant to the next generation of South Koreans? Time will tell. His song begs the question on who has the power. Some scholars say that "Power is power". There are others that say power comes in many forms. Many say that power stems from the top and flows to the bottom; the top already have all the power from birth and sprinkle(or drop) crumbs(power) to those at the bottom. Others say that power is given from those from the bottom, the people at the bottom carrying, supporting, and raising people to a powerful position. A small minority say that power is given to those that let go of everything; for example, in the music video, the people with the red cloaks can symbolize those people in power, who gave up their identity and possibly everything. Although we don't know the identity of the red-cloaked individuals(folks in the shadow), they hold all the power for not pursuing or trying to obtain power; instead, the opposite happens and the energy(power) flows back to them without any effort. It is a strange paradox, but I hope you understand what I've tried to explain. Who truly has the power?
Comment: Kep1er just released their comeback music video with fun visuals. Although they have good tracks in their previous albums, Tipi-tap has to be my favorite because of their catchy chorus, instrumental, and addictive lyrics.
Comment: As always, Babymonster is crushing it; they are crushing all competition with little to no effort. I wonder how crazy Ahyeon's high note must be in the live performance. To be honest, I love their "Drip" choreography the most out of their discography, especially at their chorus, where they are shaking their body like they are being electrocuted; the audience will probably go wild witnessing this. Everyone must be anticipating their live showcase for "Drip". I can't wait for ther live performances(live vocals), which Babymonster is known for.
